LaTrobe University has, this year, successfully completed one of their flagship projects which will assist in its aims to transform the Bundoora Campus.
This project is leading the way with its use of the renewable resource, timber, in structural members in lieu of the conventional steel or concrete. LaTrobe University has seen the value that this renewable resource can provide to their Bundoora Campus and have applied this to the program of works that has added 624 beds over two new buildings for the University.
The Accommodation building now holds the title of the largest mass timber project in Victoria and was challenging in its uniqueness of structure. The relatively new product presented a scheduling risk to the project, with longer lead times and closer monitoring required of the offsite components. PSA is pleased to have provided independent programme management services during the construction and this assisted in the successful completion of the building on programme.
