Technology and Sports Science Come Together at Federation Uni
Updated: Nov 25, 2020
PSA Project has been supporting the Federation University’s project management team on the Human Movement Sports Science Project at its Mount Helen campus in Ballarat. The $13 million project included improvements to the 1980’s building to upgrade the facilities and equipment to meet the requirements of accreditation through Exercise and Sport Science Australia (ESSA) and National Universities Course Accreditation Program (NUCAP).
This time critical project required David and Michael from PSA to work closely with the Superintendent, Contractor and Federation University to ensure works were completed in time for classes. A staged delivery enabled a focused effort by all resources, ultimately resulting in completing the critical works on time. Challenging latent conditions were encountered and this has required the team to work closely to identify different strategies and methodologies to be applied to reduce the impact.
As part of the redevelopment of the existing building, new technology has been implemented in the equipment, solar panels are being installed to off-set the power needs and the building has become more accessible with the introduction of lifts and ambulant toilets to name a few that bring the building up to current day standards.
Upon completion of the project, students will gain full access to state of the art and
high quality research facilities, the general public will gain access to the community gym and rehabilitation centre while the research centre for the prevention of injury and protection will be available to elite athletes.
