PSA would like to congratulate the Broadmeadows Town Hall Team on the $25m redevelopment of Town Hall Broadmeadows, completed in late October 2019.
The project began in 2014 with community consultation workshops that guided the design team to protect and highlight local memories of the once thriving town hall for the greater Broadmeadows and Northern Suburbs communities. Construction began in late-2017 and included restoration of the extensive amount of grey gum flooring throughout the hall.
David Mackinder has been working alongside the Project team to provide independent assessment of Contractor status as well as assessment and recommendation on delay claims.
Retaining the building’s significant cultural and architectural features proved to be both challenging and fruitful with the team working together to ensure the building would remain relevant and standing for another 50 years. Town Hall Broadmeadows is part of Hume Central, the vision and initiative of Hume City Council for ‘a vibrant and active urban centre for Broadmeadows and Melbourne’s north’. As part of that initiative the $21.5m Hume Global Learning Centre in Sunbury opened in November 2019 as an active, vibrant and welcoming hub for the greater Sunbury area.
PSA also provided the Council’s Project Management team with services by reporting on construction progress and monitoring the contractor’s performance. The transformation of the Sunbury Library into a Global Learning Centre, which incorporates an outdoor amphitheatre and stage, library, multipurpose function rooms, a gallery, business and study spaces, is equipping the Sunbury community for a digital horizon while maintaining libraries at the centre of the Learning Centre.
